Thank you so much for your continued interest. A few of my favorites. Team Everest 2003Team Everest: In 2003, Gary was leader of the largest ever cross-disability group to reach Mt Everest Base Camp, at 17,500 feet. After setting this record, he went on to scale the peak, reaching the summit on May 23, 2003, and becoming the first person with one arm to summit Mt. Everest. Cho Oyo 2004Team Cho Oyu: In 2004, Gary lead an expedition and climbed to the summit of the world’s sixth highest mountain, Mt. Cho Oyu, located in Tibet. 25th Sultan Marathon Des Sables 2010Marathon des Sables: April 2010: The Marathon des Sables is a 6 day, 151 mile (243km) endurance race across the Sahara Desert in Morocco. At 250 km over 6 stages, the race was referred to by CNN as “The hardest stage race in the world.” All competitors must carry all of their own food and supplies. Temperatures can reach 120°F around midday. Given those facts, Newton Athlete Gary Guller finished in 65 hours, 25 minutes, quite coherent in this post-race video. Thanks Newton! Gary Guller completes Ironman 70.3 Kohala HI Triathlon 2012Athletes start the day with a swim in the crystal blue waters of Hapuna Beach State Park along the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. Then they take on the challenging 56 mile bike course on the legendary Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway. The day finishes with a 13.1 mile run through paradise. Despite the choppy waters during the swim, big wind gusts on the ride, and intense heat on the run - I guess it was paradise, more so though at the finish line. But that is what makes success so, so sweet! My personal recap of the day, I hope you enjoy the read. Gary Guller Ironman 70.3 Hawaii. I want to thank all my close friends and family for your support. And of course, my corporate folks that continue to support my speaking business and sponsor and fund my challenges. Without any and all of you these moments would not be possible. And you know exactly who you are. From my heart, thank you all. When we are prepared to go through the pain, commit ourselves to commitment to succeed, we then truly can discover the joy of new found experiences. I genuinely love to swim in the ocean - cannot wait to get back on the bike (a new one I hope, soon). And I cannot believe this one - I look forward to increasing my run speed. As I have said many times, when we work together, and encourage each other, most anything is indeed possible. Thank you all for the continued support. |
